Just wanted  to tell you THANKS! for a great Fat Tuesday dinner and party! The food and Hurricanes were great (as always), and the music and real NOLA party vibe were just right.

We’ll see you again soon!

This is Aaron (AC's boyfriend). I just wanted to thank you for making such a nice night for us on Saturday. Everyone who attended has told us that it was one of the best birthday dinners that they had ever been to. Everyone absolutely LOVED the food, and I would expect that you will be seeing a lot of their faces from now on. I hope that we didn't get too rowdy. Those hurricanes pack a punch, and are delicious going down too! Once again, thank you for everything and my apologies if we were a bit on the noisy side. We will be seeing you real soon!

~Aaron

Hello -
I had dinner at your restaurant on Sat. night and fell in love with the food. I am planning a birthday party for my Baton Rouge born boyfriend and thought about trying to incorporate Mara's into it. Do you do private cooking classes? If not, how could I arrange for a catered party for around 20 to 25 people toward the end of November.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for a great meal on Sat. all I can say is WOW.

 Eve

Good Morning Mara!
My boyfriend and I enjoyed ourselves immensely the other night.
Everything was DELICIOUS, but we especially loved the spicy artichoke.

Mara,
Thanks for the great food and locale for my Birthday dinner last Friday.
Hope to be back soon.
Eric

Just as the city always evolves, so does its restaurant scene. East Sixth Street between First and Second Avenues, for example, was once a unified front of mostly undistinguished Bangladeshi and Indian restaurants, but now it serves up everything from Peruvian to Cajun and Japanese, along with more interesting and authentic Indian fare.

Mara's specializes in Cajun and Southern comfort food like chicken-fried steak, fried chicken, fried catfish, macaroni and cheese and, on the Cajun side of the menu, live Louisiana crayfish cooked in a traditional spicy boil, jambalaya, shrimp creole and po' boy sandwiches.

Hi..
Just letting you know I enjoyed my meal last night..there is nothing finer in this world than Louisiana oysters...Long Island Bluepoints don't come close.  I especially enjoyed talking with the blonde (?) waitress, who goes to Pratt, about beer!!...didn't get her name though. Tell her I said HI and hopes she feels better...

Hi Mara,
Everyone had a great time and the wonderful food was a big part of it and I THANK YOU!!  I had been raving about the restaurant for a couple of weeks so my family had high hopes and they were not disappointed.  One family member (who shall remain nameless – not me!) was caught hiding some of the mashed potatoes because she wanted to be sure to get her share.  And we thought there would be lots of leftovers but there was next to nothing left over, so that tells you something, too.
My Dad really enjoyed the food, esp. the crabcakes and the Bananas Foster and we are hoping that sometime in the future when he is able to travel more easily, we can bring him in to the city to Mara’s Homemade!
Thanks again to you and your staff for helping with the pre-arrangements and the excellent food – it was a perfect Father’s Day celebration.  I appreciate it more than I can say.

Ellen

P.S. When I was there yesterday to pick up the food the young woman at the register mentioned that you had a booth at a street fair and will be at other street fairs this summer – do you have a list available of the fairs you will be at?

THANKS AGAIN!!

Dear Mara,
The King Cakes were delicious and a bit hit at my party on Saturday. It
all reminded me of my beloved and tragic home and was a wonderful
evening. Thank you for your wonderful contribution.
Renee

Hi Mara,

Mara:
CONGRATULATIONS. Your Key Lime Pie was a GRAND success in Albany N.Y. Sampled by at least seventeen people and fought over for extra slices. Superb. Well worth every penny. Thank you again and again.

Mara and The Family, We had dinner at your restaurant the other night and I just wanted to say Thank You! It was so refreshing to get real southern cookin in NYC. I have always loved your chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and fried okra but the BBQ was truly impressive. Having been born in raised in Austin, Texas I have spent much time and money trying to find good BBQ in this large city and yours is by far the best. Oh and FYI- Your Hurricane cocktail made me feel like I was in South Padre for Spring Break! Thanks for the great food and drinks, I look forward to getting more Brisket and Ribs soon.

Best,

Autumn

We enjoyed dinner tonight and look forward to a return visit. The ribs were the most tender I've ever eaten. JRR

Hi Mara:

It's Ro from Tuesday night, Peppered Barbeque Shrimps.   First let me say, YUUUUUMMM
YUUUUMMMMM!  They were great.  I am so excited to hear about the Blue Crabs, they are my favorite. Do you just do a crab boil (zateran and all that jazz) or perhaps my favorite, garlic crabs.  Either way I look forward to the feast.

Be well.

Ro

Was there with 2 friends eating crawfish on Monday and the tamales were great, as well as everything else!  a long going favorite is still the gator bites!  here you have a true southern girl in the city and it makes me happy to know that you guys are just a few blocks away!!!  good luck with everything!

thanks,
carla

Fabulous! Fabulous! Fabulous! I ate at your restaurant for the first time last night (with Yan) and will most definitely be back! I will also be telling all my friends!

Dana

Had such a blast on Fat Tues last week. Thanks for always being great hosts and serving FABULOUS food

Dayna

I wanted to tell you that I had a great time at your restaurant and plan to come again, again, and again. The food is great, and the staff is so friendly! It's a special place.

Also, Nelson and I have been spreading the gospel about how great your food and atmosphere is, so you might be getting some customers saying "Nelson and Patrick sent us".

Thanks and we will try to make the Sunday bash, but if not we will see you sometime next week. Thanks again. I really love your restaurant.

See ya, you crazy new York Cajuns!

Patrick

Hi All, a group of my friends and I, all from Louisiana, were in a few days ago! The food was great and was easily compared to the good southern Creole cooking that i frequently miss! best items that we had....the crab cakes, gator bites, gumbo!!!! will surely be back!!!!

Carla

Hi Mara and David

I was in earlier tonight and took out the Catfish New Orleans and 1lb of steamed crawfish as per your recommendations.  Both exceeded my expectations!  The crawfish we cooked and spiced perfectly, and were big and meaty.  The catfish was delicious.  I sopped up the remaining tasty sauce with the crusty french bread.

I'm very happy to have finally found authentic New Orleans cooking in Manhattan.  I will be back soon, and I will bring friends.

Sincerely,

David

Hi Mara. Just wanted you to know that the Red Velvet cake and chocolate-pecan pie were  huge hits at Christmas dinner. We had a wonderful time eating dessert---in fact because of a mishap—not worth describing—I had only dessert that day and thanks to you one of the nicest Christmas meals. We’ll see you soon. Happy New Year to you both. Best, Arline

oh my gosh! we had such a good time at dinner sat night! your wait staff was superb, the crawfish were perfect (after we gave them back to wash the spice powder off), the fried pickles were yummy, the french bread on the po boy was soft and perfect, etc etc. we loved it!

Hi Mara

My two cousins and I were in to eat Friday evening (from Boston) and we enjoyed our dinner so much.  We talked about it all weekend.  We loved the fact that you stayed and chated with us and explain the menu, etc.  When back in NYC we will definitely stop back for another great meal.  I will be passing the word along to my NY cronies as well.  Happy Holidays and thanks for a great evening.

Regards,

Jonna

Please take me off your mailing list. I have move out of NYC and your newsletter is a cruel reminder that I will not have you wonderful cakes and pies for a long while.

Good luck

L.B.

Hi Mara:

My wife was at your restaurant last night and took a catfish estufe back to our apartment. She said it was "DELICIOUS" We are upstate most of the time but will try to stop in when we are next in the City.

Jay

It always feels like dinner with family. Thanks    Charles

Claudia and I had the most wonderful time celebrating my birthday on Monday night. THANK YOU so much for your wonderful part in that exceptional evening. Everything was delicious--the crab fingers were 'finger lickin good'!

We discovered Mara's by chance and we LOVED the food. Thanks for talking us into the gorgeous dessert (chocolate soufflé!!!!). We'll come back!

Most excellent restaurant! Looking forward to coming again tonight! :-)

The food was so excellent - like nothing I have ever had in NYC -- flavorful and great individualized attention! Everyone should come to Mara's -- once they do they'll be hooked
